Format Comparison

The same player can be worth a first-round pick in one format and a third-round pick in another. Here is the side-by-side.

THE HEADLINE CASE

Josh Allen is the clearest demonstration available of why format-specific ADP matters. Three boards, read on the same day, from the same source:

FormatJosh Allen ADPRound (that league size)
10-team 2-QB1.8Round 1, top two picks
12-team half-PPR31.8Round 3
12-team full PPR33.5Round 3
A ~30-pick swing between formats, same player, same day. Any single ranking that claims to cover all formats is by construction wrong for at least two of them.
HALF-PPR VERSUS FULL PPR

The two boards are more similar than different at the top — the first five picks are identical in both. The divergence shows up at the pass-catching positions, exactly where you would predict.

PlayerHalf-PPRFull PPRShift
Trey McBride (TE)38.029.1PPR ~9 picks earlier
De'Von Achane (RB)11.19.9PPR ~1 pick earlier
Derrick Henry (RB)10.316.0Half-PPR ~6 picks earlier
Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR)7.56.6PPR ~1 pick earlier
Justin Jefferson (WR)13.311.7PPR ~2 picks earlier

The Henry and McBride rows are the two to internalise. A high-volume runner who does not catch passes gains about six picks of value moving from full PPR to half; a receiving tight end loses about nine. Everything else is noise by comparison.

WHICH FORMAT ARE YOU ACTUALLY IN?
Check the points-per-reception value first. 0.5 and 1.0 produce materially different boards.
Count your flex spots. Two flex spots raise the value of floor over ceiling.
Count your starting quarterbacks. This is the single largest board-altering setting there is.
Check passing-touchdown value. 4 points narrows the gap between rushing and pocket quarterbacks.
Check league size. The same ADP means a different round in a 10-team league than a 12-team one.
