Three Sample Drafts

How the same board plays out from an early, middle and late first-round slot in a 12-team half-PPR league.

HOW TO READ THESE

Twelve-team snake. Rounds are named for the players the ADP snapshot on this page actually covers โ€” roughly the first 40 picks. Beyond that the snapshot runs out, so later rounds are described by the type of player to target rather than by name. Inventing names there would be guessing, and guessing is exactly what a draft guide should not do.

PICK 3 โ€” THE ANCHOR SLOT
R1
#3
Puka Nacua (WR, LAR) โ€” ADP 2.8
One of the four locked names. If Gibbs or Bijan slips to 3, take the back instead.
R2
#22
Omarion Hampton (RB, LAC) โ€” ADP 22.3
The turn is long from pick 3. You need a back who will still be startable when you come back at 27.
R3
#27
Kyren Williams (RB, LAR) โ€” ADP 26.9
Back-to-back backs is correct here: 21 picks pass between your R2 and R4 selections.

From pick 3 your R2 and R3 arrive close together and then you wait. That argues for taking the position that thins fastest โ€” running back โ€” across the turn, and catching receivers on the way back. Rounds 4 onward: target a defined-role WR3, then upside at tight end if McBride-tier value is still on the board near 38.

PICK 8 โ€” THE BALANCED SLOT
R1
#8
Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR, DET) โ€” ADP 7.5
Sits almost exactly at slot. The tier-2 block runs 5.4โ€“10.3, so expect one of six names.
R2
#17
A.J. Brown (WR, NE) โ€” ADP 17.1
Right at ADP. The 16.8โ€“20.5 block is one tier โ€” Barkley, Rice, Pickens and Walker are equivalent choices.
R3
#32
Josh Allen (QB, BUF) โ€” ADP 31.8
The one slot where taking the QB1 is structurally defensible: both flex spots are already covered by two high-floor receivers.

Pick 8 gives the most even spacing of any slot โ€” roughly nine picks between selections all the way down. That is the slot where you can afford the positional edge at quarterback, because you are never waiting long enough for a run to strip a position bare. Rounds 4 onward: two running backs before round six, since you have none.

PICK 11 โ€” THE DOUBLE-TAP SLOT
R1
#11
De'Von Achane (RB, MIA) โ€” ADP 11.1
Tier 3 opens here. Achane, Lamb, Jefferson, London and Chase Brown are all live at 11.
R2
#14
Drake London (WR, ATL) โ€” ADP 13.7
Only three picks later. From pick 11 you draft twice before most of the league picks once.
R3
#35
Tee Higgins (WR, CIN) โ€” ADP 34.3
Then the long wait โ€” 21 picks. Take the highest-floor player left rather than chasing upside.

The late slot trades a weaker first pick for back-to-back selections at the turn. The correct use of that is to take two players from the same tier rather than reaching across tiers โ€” you get tier 3 twice, which is worth more than one tier-2 player and one tier-4 player. Rounds 4 onward: you are RB-light, so prioritise backs with standalone value over handcuffs.
